My Social Media Hiatus – Part 3 – I’m Back

Yeah, I know. I was supposed to have a hiatus until February. I caved. I gave up.

Perhaps I should have chosen a time in my life where I didn’t have a high amount of stress. I love my kids, and I love my two-month-old son, but ugh. It is hard taking care of an infant, especially when you have to take care of a toddler too. So one day, my curiosity and boredom got the best of me and I went onto to Twitter and Facebook. I could lie to the world and say I made it, but I didn’t. The internet and social media has a firm grasp on my psyche.

I will look at the positives though. I made it over three weeks. That is pretty good for someone who uses social media quite a bit. I do think as a result of this experiment I will change my habits a bit and stay off it more. I found I was much more mentally present at home, and that’s a great thing. I was less distracted at work and much more productive, getting a lot of stuff done.

So this concludes my series but I have a parting note:

For anyone who feels like I did, meaning you spend too much time on your phone and/or social media. Take breaks. Force yourself. Honestly, only good will come of it.
